For the most part I need quiet when I’m trying to do something, but sometimes if there is a tv on in the background (say, downstairs if I’m upstairs) that isn’t too loud and distracting, then I enjoy that…but not overly. When I would try to study for exams in university, I would need quiet. Even going to the university library to study was useless because it was never quiet…no matter how often people got told to be quiet. I can’t even study with background noise. I need quiet. I think I’m pretty much the same way for writing because the least little thing can be distracting (unless I’m in the “zone” and it’s just background noise and doesn’t seem to bother me) and then I can’t focus or concentrate enough.
