On Your Mark! Get Set! Sweat!

Today kicks off the 4th round of the 70 Days of Sweat.  For those of you not familiar, this is a more…temperate and reasonable challenge than NaNoWriMo.  The goal is to write 60-100k in 70 days (in this case, 77, as we have 7 “free” days built into the calendar this round, which is a bonus when holiday family pressures come up).  There’s no rule that says we have to start a brand new project (like with NaNo).  The goal is to write every day.  I absolutely love this challenge as it’s right on the cusp of what I can manage each day for productivity with my busy schedule (without doing cheats like avoiding contractions and describing everything on an atomic level).  I just hopped over to the Sweat sign up page and I see that there are 137 people signed up to Sweat this round.  I can’t remember how that compares to prior rounds, but I feel honored to be surrounded by so many other folks up to the challenge!

It’s Monday, the start of a new week, and I’m feeling much better (thanks for those of you who were asking).  I’m still coughing (and will be until doom’s day as far as I can tell), but my brain is clear.  I kind of feel like last week didn’t happen or was a dream somehow.  Low on productivity and probably on interesting things to say here.  I hope to rectify that this week.

So anyway, writers, what are you waiting for?  If your first week of NaNo didn’t go well (clearly mine didn’t), this is the time to hop over to 70 Days of Sweat and sign up for a challenge you can manage!  (Not to say you can’t manage NaNo–I just know that I can’t!)  We even have a cool mascot.  See that guy up top?  That’s Sven.

No matter what challenge you are participating in, you can find great productivity counters/progress meters available at Writertopia.
