This would be a classic case of Open Mouth, Insert Foot. I certainly didn't intend it as a face slap. I've been an avid fan since you started the site and your story structure series absolutely changed my writing life. But once you decided to turn it into an ebook (which I'm sure is full of wonderful information because the basic form you already give away is truly awesome) it seems like the posts have been less substantive and more geared toward sales. This latest series on how to get published seems to have a pattern of several paragraphs of build up for maybe one or two salient points per post. THAT was what I meant by breadcrumbs. There's a difference between leaving readers wanting more and annoying them by not balancing out the post with enough substance on the other side of the build up. I certainly still read the site and will continue to refer people over there, as I absolutely think you've hit on an area or a way of explaining story structure that makes more intuitive sense than anything I've ever seen. The content will absolutely sell itself.

First, happy new year to you. I wish you a great year all around, with emphasis on your writing dream.

Second, thanks for folowing Storyfix. I see visits (via Analytics) referred from your site daily, and for that I'm grateful.

Third, I'm a little confused, and a little stung, by your comments here. A used car salesman? Really, I think you're confusing that with passion, and I hardly and rarely trump my own products at all (like they're mentioned maybe one out of tem posts). In fact, most readers say I GIVE away more valuable input, as well as insight, than most other writing sites. Sorry you don't perceive it that way.

And finally, the stuff you've quoted above? Hardly bread crumbs. In fact, that one insight can make or break a novel and/or a career. I give insights like that almost daily.

So again, thanks for your continued support. I hope you'll view the site, and the intentions behind it, in a little kinder/gentler light as we move into 2010. When I deserve a face slap, by all means tell me. But I don't think I deserved this one.

I'll send you a free copy of my Ebook on STory structure via email... you'll see that there's enough bread crumbs there to feed a village of hungry writers.
