1,000 Ebooks This Month! Almost…

For anybody who follows Joe Konrath’s blog, you’ll know that the figure that keeps being batted around as a yardstick for indie authors selling well is those who are selling 1,000 books or more a month.

Well…as of this writing, I am at 988 1000+ copies for January! Unless sales just, you know, STOP today, I should make the cut off by midnight tonight! I am still a little bit numb.  Sales are split at about a 2:1 ratio between Devil’s Eye and Forsaken By Shadow.  Between the two, I actually brought in enough to pay my car payment, with a bit left over for a nice dinner.  Woo!

Since March 25th, 2010 (release date for FBS), I have sold over 4,000 ebooks.

I absolutely could not have done this without all you fabulous people who bought, read, liked, tweeted, told your friends, reviewed the books or otherwise did something to get the word out that I exist and I put out something worth reading.  Okay, I admit it, I’m getting a little bit teary.  If I could write a personalize thank you note to each and every person who bought either of my books, I so would–except that it would take the rest of my life and I wouldn’t have time to write more books, which is probably a better thank you anyway, so it’s probably good I don’t have all your addresses.  But just know that I value each and every one of you from the bottom of my little writerly heart.

  1. Aw, I love this post. This is the second thing I’ve read today about royalties earned, telling what the writing is paying for in real-world terms and it’s so exciting! You are awesome, and your awesome is why I was able to do it too. (You know my news, but I’m going to wait until Wednesday to give details to everyone else.) You so deserve this, and I’m so happy to see you hit this mark.

  2. Wow – major congratulations!!! You’ve worked very hard for this, but of course it requires some star-alignment as well, and I’m thrilled you’re hitting such a major milestone! Woot! *raises glass* 🙂

  3. Congratulations. The changes in publishing are coming so fast and furious that people forget authors produce the product, readers consume the product and everyone else is helping or in the way. Mostly they’re in the way now.

  4. Just goes to show we really are our own worst critics. I never would’ve guessed all the problems you had getting Devil’s Eye completed because it was just so good. You’ve totally earned your “shiznit” status, congrats!

  5. Congratulations! I’m very happy for you! 😀
And you really deserved it! 🙂 I’m glad it’s over a 1000 in the end!!!
