- It’s official. I have a sinus infection. Joy. But it’s not strep or something equally heinous, like the flu, so I’m continuing with the boatloads of water, vitamin C, zinc, ecchinecea, and chamomile tea, and I’ll go irrigate later to flush my sinuses out. Not what you would call fun, but functional. And I actually DO feel better after sleeping 11 hours last night. I’ll just back off my exercise program a wee bit this week while I heal up, do some low-impact, yoga type stuff instead of the hard hitting HIIT. On the upside, I’m down a pound and a half.
- Yesterday I successfully made gluten free chicken n dumplins. They were not my mother’s chicken ‘n dumplins. Chicken ‘n dumplins may be the one thing (other than my grandmother’s chocolate pie) that my mother makes better than me hands down every time. But of course hers are Bisquick dumplins and hubby can’t eat them. Since I am in charge of my own sick food (he doesn’t really cook), I sure wasn’t gonna make a second meal for him. These are much more rustic, drop in dumplins instead of the nice rolled strips I’m used to, but the flavor was quite good and we declared this recipe a keeper. I’ll be throwing it up on Pots and Plots in a week or two.
- One of my goals this round was to make a blueprint of a potential Mirus story that’s niggling.. Well this week I did that. I haven’t actually finished the character profiles yet, but I have a complete scene list, story structure, and character arcs for hero and heroine. It’s going to be a novella. I’m quite happy to be mucking around in my Mirus universe again.
- I’m shooting for a minimum of 600 words a day this round. So far that’s mostly been going well. I got 706 Monday, 935 Tuesday, 656 Wednesday, did plotting on Thursday but no writing (though I can’t remember why I didn’t get to it), more plotting on Friday and Saturday but no writing because I was sick. I’m satisfied with that given how the week has gone.
- On today’s to do list is finally getting the Christmas tree down and the house picked up from that. And I need to make up a batch of meatballs (my latest brainchild for what’s portable and high protein that’s not a premade bar that I can send hubby for lunch). Other than that, I’m thinking afternoon nap. And some more Food Network. And laying in the rest of the sponsor posts for ROW80.

Hope you feel better soon! I’m sure you will hit more of your goals when you feel better, at least you are trying
Sympathies! Sinus infections are not fun. I was struggling with a migraine yesterday, and also needed 11 hours sleep — here’s hoping we both do well with the rest.
As for the dumplings… hey, if you can’t make the best glutinous ones like your mother, you can at least come into your own with gluten free dumplings!
Good luck with the rest of your goals!
I think I would rather have strep. With antibiotics, you recover more quickly than with sinus infections. However…strep is HIGHLY contagious. I’m a pro at strep. LOL
I’m also happy that you’re mucking around in the Mirus universe,
Good word count this week. Feel better soon!
I once had strep throat, an ear infection, and the flu all at once, so I’d like to just avoid strep all together.
I am also working on the neglected Christmas tree thing today… and I am impressed with your gluten free cooking. I need to try some recipes in this New Year.
Sending healing vibes for your sinus infection! I am grateful for all you do!
You had a great week Kait. Here’s to the sinus infection clearing up soon. Nothing worse than having a long list of goals that you are chomping at the bit to get to but feeling under the weather. Get lots of rest! Can’t wait for that recipe!!!
Feel better, Kait! I used to get sinus infections every year in college. Wicked awful. Awesome progress on your goals even with being thrown off towards the end of the week. The recipe sounds yummy.
Love the idea of a blueprint! That sounds like such a creative process! I’m very sorry about the sinus infection–those can really hurt. Great job keeping up with the wordcount–I hope you feel better soon. It’s so hard to think straight when you are sick! Good luck!
