Sunday Summary and #ROW80 Update

  1. I’ve been all productive in the kitchen this weekend.  Made a fresh batch of chicken stock, tried out a new recipe for gluten free sandwich bread from Jeanne at the Art of Gluten Free Baking (2 thumbs up), and adapted my corn casserole recipe to be gluten free for a neighborhood cookout.  The cookout itself was interesting, if a little bit awkward.  I was a lot more comfortable discussing guns, motorcycles, and trucks with the guys than hanging out with the women.  Not sure what that says about me.  But it was nice to meet some new folks and the pulled pork was fabulous.
  2. I also finally got all my stuff photographed and listed on the local swap group.  I’ve been putting this off for a while, but finally sucked it up and knocked it out today.  Have already sold 4 or 5 things off the list.  I’m hoping that trend will continue and it will all be GONE in the next couple of weeks.  And that I make enough money off stuff to afford to hire a painter to refinish our front door.  The outside is stained and peeling.  The inside is scratched to hell and back from the prior owners’ dog.  All would involve stripping and redoing and there is no amount of anything that makes me want to strip ANYTHING myself.  Smelly and a pain in the butt.
  3. Went for a nice little walk with Daisy and Callie out in the nearby hay fields.  Our neighbor bush hogged a path through it, so we had a little trail and Daisy didn’t have to worry about snagging her toenail.  She was hot to trot and had a good old time exploring.
  4. I finally made some legitimate plotting progress on the CR plot bunny.  I’ve sorted out the primary conflict between the hero and heroine and figured out the resolution.  So now I just need to plot from point A to point Z.  I even bought a new composition book and have been making loads of notes on characters and scenes by hand.  With a nifty purple pen.  Because I have been indulging in my addiction to school supplies.  >.>
  5. I’m up about 2455 words in DOTH over four days this week.  Didn’t write Monday or Saturday, but I’m making progress and moving forward in the story.  I’m at a tricky scene just now and going slowly trying to see that I get it right.  Plus I had company one night this week.  So I’m good with that.
  6. Adding to my list of goals for ROW80 and for the year is to write for 20 days out of each  month.  Looking at my progress and patterns over the last two and a half years, I average writing 15 days a month.  If I can bump that up to 20 days a month, then that 5 extra days adds up to two whole months more of writing over the year (ok 1 extra month this year since we only have 5 months and change left) than what I’ve been doing.  That’s a significant increase for a relatively small change.  I can’t bump up my actual word count all that much right now, so the next step is writing on more days.

  1. Wow, a walk through a hay field sounds like heaven. Hopefully I’ll have this cast off soon, and I’ll be able to go on walks again. So glad Daisy’s doing better and you guys are settling in!

  2. Maybe it means you’re a tomboy? LOL

I’m glad the writing is going better. And you’re getting to plot the bunny! 🙂 An extra five days a month does add up. Little changes lead to big changes overall, and it doesn’t seem so overwhelming when you look at it that way.
