Daily Goal: Met

So today did not go terribly well on the writing front.  Those bare minimum words were hard won and my goal was met only with the kind assistance of Pot on the last paragraph.  I simply could not get into my hero’s head today.  It was like a total mental block.  Probably should have moved to an action scene where emotion wasn’t as big a part, but I’m very persnickety and prefer to work in chronological order if at all possible.  I still need a conclusion for the scene but I gave up and decided to call it a day.  I’d just end up rewriting it anyway if I tried.   So instead I made notes on the interrogation that’s on deck for tomorrow.  I start training at my new job tomorrow, so we’ll see how that fits in with my writing schedule.  I’m on a weird schedule half time with both jobs being trained at one and doing the training at the other.  Then August 1 I go full time at the new one.  Woo hoo!  Yay for a grown up paycheck.  Off to read for a while, I think.  Then bed.

  1. I prefer to work in chronological order as well – maybe because I want to make sure I’m consistent with character emotion and motivation, etc. I’m sure it’ll go better tomorrow and at least you made the word count! Sven would be proud. Good luck!

  2. Pot has begun to formulate hypotheses on the problem. However, at this time, Pot is in the obnoxious observation (read: fingerpointing) phase and has yet to come up with constructive suggestions. So Pot’s going to keep her big mouth shut on the black-calling and just wish you better today.
