Daily Progress Report

Well yesterday I finished everything in my novel notebook for Flash Point except for some of the backstory on my arsonist, and the rest of the 20 lists on the plotting of the romance.  Today I have done absolutely nothing relating to the story.  My creative and organizational energies have been lent to other things like cleaning out my bedroom closet, cleaning out my office closet, rearranging and organizing my office (what a concept), doing laundry, batch cooking, making a fresh batch of laundry detergent, weeding our lone flower bed (and promptly breaking out all over my arms because I’m allergic to all of it), figuring out where to plant the new azalea bushes, painting a mirror frame and a small cabinet, and working on hand writing about 100 recipes for a gift that’s way way way overdue.  So yeah, I’ve been busy.  Tomorrow we’re actually planting the azaleas, but we have to take out some massive and overgrown holly bushes first.  No idea what else I’ll get done but the story is marinating.

Sorry for the totally non-writing related life update.

  1. You make your own laundry detergent? That’s pretty cool. 🙂 Also, handwritten recipes also sounds like a really great gift. Hope the story marinating goes well.

  2. Yep. It’s a heckuva lot cheaper, more environmentally friendly, and takes up less space than traditional detergent.

    Clean and Green
    Powdered Laundry Detergent

1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap (available at most grocery stores–not at Walmart though)
1/2 Cup Washing Soda (also available at most grocery stores–not at Walmart)
1/2 Cup Borax (available at Walmart or grocery stores)

For light load, use 1 tablespoon.
For heavy or heavily soiled load, use 2 tablespoons.

I also make my own dishwasher detergent. Equal parts borax, baking soda, and store bought detergent. Use 2 tablespoons per load. Put white vinegar in the rinse aid hole (helps with spotting).
