Smattering

Let it be known that poison ivy/oak/sumac is a plague upon the earth.  :itch itch:  The origin spots have healed but I’m still trying to clear up the NEW spots.  Sigh.

I have fallen off the category best seller list on Amazon.  Which is totally normal when you’re just flirting at the bottom and stats change by the hour.  But I think it’s a reasonable goal that I’ll be a more stable fixture on there by the end of the month.  I’m still maintaining an overall rank in the 6,000s or higher.  Plus not being on the list for a while means I can focus on the CURRENT WIP.

I had a great big I Hate My Book period yesterday.  Then I finally figured out how to fix it, so now I’m okay again.  I’ve spent a lot of time worried about Revelation.  It’s changed so much from what it was originally intended to be, and it’s a very, VERY different book from Forsaken By Shadow. FBS is straight up action, constantly moving, wham, bam, thank you, ma’am.  Revelation is, of course, much longer, more complex, and deals more with intrigue than ass-kicking.  My heroine has to find her strength, and my hero–well, I don’t know what to say about Orrin except that he’s definitely not Gage.  I guess I’ve been having a crisis of wondering if it’s so different, it’ll alienate readers.  But I’m committed, so we shall see.

A friend just sent me the link to Wolframalpha, which is a really fascinating research tool.  I can’t really describe it, just go check it out.

I woke up CRANKY this morning.  Mostly because it’s one of those I’m-so-tired-I-keep-running-into-things-and-knocking-stuff-over-and-making-a-mess-that-I-then-have-to-clean-up-because-there’s-no-one-else-and-I-really-just-want-to-crawl-back-in-bed kind of days.  I think I’ve added at least 3 new bruises since I got out of bed.  Just 2 more days til Saturday and blessed SLEEP.  And then mass baking for a baby shower I am helping to co-host.

I suppose I must do real work.  Am thinking it is a two cup morning.

  1. If you’re like me, you’re constantly checking stats. When Club Blood got up to 2,085 in rank, I was estatic. It actually made the top 100 list in categories a couple of times. But See Me, although the actual sales and rankings are much less, stays in the top 100 of categories because more people like vampires than ghosts. LOL

I can’t wait to read Revelation. Even if it’s totally different from Forsaken by Shadow, I’m sure it will be just as good. I love it when authors write books that are a lot different from each other. 🙂

  2. It’s definitely going to be a challenge to sort of keep the same “feel” through the series while writing very different books. Each one deals with different races in my world, and because they are different, the books are going to come out very differently. I tell you what, though, I’ve been wishing I could just kick some butt…fight scenes are more fun to write!
