Home At Last and #ROW80 Check In

I am HOME HOME HOME!  Currently with a puppy head on my hip and very very happy (and tired).

I had a fabulous time in Kansas visiting my BFF and her kids (my unofficial niece and nephew), but I missed my hubby and my puppies, so after a very very long drive yesterday in grody, drizzly weather, I’m glad to be home.

I did have quite a bit of productive think time about my assorted books.  Worked out some stuff for Red. Figured out some new material about my kitchen witch series.  And even went back to revisit the last romantic suspense I was working on (Til Death), driving myself nuts for a few hours trying to remember the heroine’s dog’s name–it was Moose, in case you care.  When my characters started singing the Mamma Mia sound track along with me, I knew it was past time to get home.  All the state troopers who passed me were looking at me funny because I was belting it and dancing in the driver’s seat.  I blame my niece.  She’s 3.  We watched it twice while I was there.  I’ve had a mashup of the songs floating around in my head for days.

I haven’t written a word since…Saturday?…but I really didn’t expect to get much done while I was visiting because, of course, I was visiting, not on my computer.  But I’ve definitely had the itch, so that’s on today’s agenda as well, alongside a lot of catch up: laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, grading, and maybe another nap because holy moly I’m tired.

This trip was the last serious interruption to my getting back to a normal schedule (at least until late February or March when I have to go to Texas to help my mother clean out and pack up my grandmother’s house), so definitely looking to hit it hard on a lot of levels.  Need to get back into eating right, working out, writing, and finishing up the last lectures for my class this semester.

Oh and as an update to goals, I need to spend a few days each week working on a short story for an anthology I was invited to participate in.  I’ve had it outlined since before Christmas, but I need to refine and work out some details and find the voice of my heroine.  That will mean a little time away from Red but I really want to do it.

I need to go box to loosen my body up, then shower and hit the grocery.  Maybe eat something here in a little bit.  Then get going with my day.

  1. It sounds like you had a great time and are ready to get back to work! Sometimes we need to take a little time off, and there’s not a thing wrong with that. You seem to have a lot of things in your head ready to write down. 🙂

  2. Ok, Mama Mia huh? Yep, I’ve done the same thing. I love that movie too. My son just shakes his head when I started singing songs from it. 🙂

Glad you are safely back home. Good luck at catching up, but you’re so organized I’m sure it won’t take long.
