Sunday Summary and #ROW80 Update

  1. Yesterday was hubby’s first bridal shoot.  I got to play photographer’s assistant.  It was fun!  He did a great job.  Of course, he’s not happy with a lot of it, but that’s artist’s prerogative.  When was the last time we writers were happy with a first draft?
  2. It was, overall, a good week on the writing front.  I wound up with 3863, most of that from Monday to Friday through the Dark and Early.  Last Sunday I only got 13 words.  And yesterday I was tied up with the shoot.  Anyway, it averaged out to around 772 a day on the days I wrote, which makes me very happy.  So I’ll keep up the Dark and Early routine, as much as I’d rather sleep.
  3. Part of today’s project is to read through all of my existing draft of Red to make notes on how to integrate the character stuff for Sawyer.  I need to figure out how to layer it in to what I’ve got and how I want to develop it in the remainder of the book.  And while I’m at it, I’ve got to polish up the first three chapters and write a synopsis for the Magnificent Laurie McLean to take on her next jaunt to New York.  EEP!
  4. Operation G.I.T. has not been quite so successful.  Oh I’ve exercised like a crazy person.  Burned 2000 calories in the last week.  Done yoga every day (except Saturday), squeezed in other workouts wherever I could.  And while I am seeing some minor shrinkage in the tape measure, the scale isn’t budging.  And, of course, I blew the calorie budget for two days, first on Staff Appreciation Day Friday (two jumbo hot dogs, ice cream…) and last night on Chinese (because we got home at 8:30 and hubby did NOT want any of the easy, healthy options we had available, and frankly, neither did I).  And then there was the Incident of the Blue Butterflies (beverage warning).  All in all I feel like I’m exhausted from running in place.
  5. So this week I’m going to try to make better choices.  There are no big social things or eating out planned, so hopefully that will go better.  I should be able to get my midday work out in every day except Friday because our open house will be during lunch.  Today I will do the menu planning for the week to make sure I have a plan on that front.
  6. In other news, Social Media Monarch Kristen Lamb has started a new twibe, #MyWANA.  It’s a fabulous group, and y’all should all stop by to hang out.  It gathers all the great peeps who usually hang out in her comments.  It’s like a big block party on Twitter.  Come visit!
  7. And FINALLY I absolutely have to share this AMAZING RESOURCE for writers.  The Bookshelf Muse is home to several truly amazing and unique thesauruses: emotion, settings, colors, symbols, weather…  This is AWESOME.  This goes SO FAR beyond Rogets.  Check it!

  3. I love Bookshelf Muse, have it linked on my blog. I need to use it though, especially when editing. It’s a true goldmine.

Given the highly ambitious nature of your goals, you did a stupendous job!! Well done, you!

Love the look of the blog, especially the header. I really want to develop a signature format for myself like you’ve done, but should probably settle into a genre first. LOL

  4. Kait, you’re such an inspiration in so many ways. And it sounds like you’re really doing well with your new routine. You’ve inspired me to change my morning routine a bit. We’ll see how that goes.

Also, thanks for The Bookshelf Muse link. That really sounds interesting and helpful.
