Home Again, Home Again

I am HOME from FandrewCon 2011.  Holy crap am I tired!  It really hit me once I was no longer around Susan, Andrew, his lovely wife Tracey, and Lauralynn, who all jazzed me up, that I kind of haven’t slept much in the last, oh, five days?

Zzzzzzzz.

And I’m supposed to grade discussion boards today?  Ick.  I am not what you could call “enthused” about this.

It was an AWESOME writer’s vacay.  Lots of brainstorming and shop talk.  I can’t tell you how much I needed that.  I love my normal friends, but there is absolutely no replacement for hanging out with a bunch of other writers who totally get you.  When you can burst into random discussion about someone who doesn’t exist and nobody looks at you as if you’ve suddenly developed a case of schizophrenia but instead launches into additional suggestions for how to up the stakes, enhance character arc, and “hey what if this happens?” When everybody present can talk about Joss Whedon, Star Wars, and all things Buffy with the fluency of a first language.  God it was GREAT.

Now that I’m back, I’m starting my G.I.T. streak over.  I’m only up 2 pounds from the trip, which, considering the number of cookies I inhaled and all the eating out, is great.  Hopping right back on routine, so I should be back to where I was by next week.  Did yoga this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks, and am eager to test out the Nyko Zoom to see if it really does allow me to use my Kinect exercise games in my tiny living room.  Your Shape Fitness and UFC Trainer, here I come!

My brain is too fried for much more of an update.  I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

  1. I really missed you guys on Sunday, knowing you were together and I had to go back home. 🙁

I haven’t weighed yet to see if that huge burger I ate packed on any lbs. LOL The burgers were good, though, weren’t they? 🙂

I really enjoyed hanging out with you guys. It was an awesome time!

  2. It sounds like quite the time you had. Hanging out with other writers must be great fun. Darn I wished I lived in the US.

I gain like 2 pounds thinking about a cookie so I think 2 pounds in exchange for a week (ish) of fun and indulgence is a great trade off. As you say the key is to get back on the disciplined horse again and it will be gone in no time.

  3. Sounds like you had a great trip, Kait! I miss having that group of writer friends easily at hand as I did in college, so it’s exciting to even living in vague vicariousness through other people in that respect! Get some rest, some catching up, and back into an inspired swing of things. : )
