Sunday Summary

Late post today.  We’ve been busy busy busy here at Casa Nolan.

  1. We started the serious packing today.  The current owner is letting us go ahead and start putting stuff in the garage, so we took the first load over.  Good thing too.  The front half of our house was filling up very rapidly with boxes.  Of course now I need to make another big box run.  You always need more boxes than you think you will.
  2. We also started on the short list of projects for our current house that were required after the home inspection.  This involved crawling around under the house to measure for pipe insulation, which set poor hubby off on a horrible allergy attack.  But we got the insulation installed.  Next up, railing.
  3. I’ve only written 266 words this weekend.  But…eh.  It was our 9 year anniversary, and I’ve been busy with house stuff.  And I’ve been going a great deal of thought on my villain.  I had thought it was one particular character, but it turned out to be another one, and that person is now changing the whole thrust of the metaplot for the trilogy.  So I’ve been giving a lot of time and effort this weekend to pondering what he wants, why he wants it, and how it’s going to impact everyone else.  It’s also necessitating that I re-evaluate some of the decisions and scenes I had planned for the second half of the book.  It’s going to be a pretty low word count for the month, but it’s really important that I get the details of the latter half of the plot hammered out.
  4. Last night I made an epic gluten free deep dish pizza that was piled high and deep with so many toppings…and we ate THE WHOLE THING.  We are still recovering.  It was one of those massive meals that we rarely eat anymore.  It was delicious but holy crap.  There’s a reason we don’t eat that much anymore.  So…yeah focus this week is on smaller, healthier food.  And maybe even getting back to exercise.  Wouldn’t that be novel?

  1. As a fellow gluten-free ROWer, pizza sounds wonderful; honestly, can’t remember the last time I had pizza as I am also yeast sensitive.
As for your move, I was so impressed with a previous post about “your System” and will be anxious for updates on that. Many, many years ago, I, too, could move with systematic ease. Now, not so much.
Regarding your villain in and then out, it is always such an interesting process as story shifts while kernel idea remains the same. Writing is just fascinating, and you do it so well.
    Have a great week, Kait.

  2. I’m so excited about your move! 🙂 If I’m this excited, it’s a wonder you’re not passing out with excitement. LOL

Thinking about your villain is productive, even if it’s not actual writing. You have to know your characters, and when they change on you, you have to change your thinking, right?

    Happy Anniversary!

  3. Sometimes, IMO, planning is waaaay more important than actual writing (or editing, for that matter). Having a road to follow (even if it’s just an outline) makes the writing process go so much faster. At least for me.
