Midweek Check-In

T minus 16 days til we move.  Admittedly, I’m having a hard time focusing on anything not related to that.  I’ve got so many lists.  Projects for the house.  Stuff I need to buy.  Stuff I might need to buy if I can’t find it in a box somewhere.  Stuff I want to buy.  Stuff that needs to be done before we move in.  Stuff I need to do on closing day.  Utilities and services I need to have set up to start.  Utilities and services I need to cancel.

Makes it hard to have room in the noggin for things like, you know, plot.

Still, I’ve been making some progress.  395 on Sunday (the rest of my day was spent going to see The Avengers–OMG AWESOME–and having an Iron Man marathon).  Only 22 words on Monday, but I realized during the nap I took instead of writing (yes, sometimes sleep takes priority) that I was going about the scene in the wrong POV.  So I made that switch.  Then yesterday, I got a whopping 1262 and finally finished the bloody scene.  On to the MP scene today.  If I can have a few more days this month like yesterday, I might actually make my 10k goal, despite DFW and moving.

  1. If I were you, I wouldn’t worry about writing until after the move. You know your brain will do some work along the way, and maybe you’ll be driven to put in some evening time on writing because you have stuff you need to get down — but holy cow, you’re moving in 16 days. No pressure, lady.

  2. You’ll relish your down time in your new home, just wait, you’ll find it. Hang in there! *huggles*

  3. Being the kind that both dreads the upheaval of a move and almost craves it at the same time, I get where you are coming from completely, Kait. There is a nervous energy that seems to linger in the air coating everything it touches and getting absorbed through the skin….

You’ll get through it…and without too many many jitters. Glad you caught the POV change and even 22 words is something (but an awfully short test mile). Just remember to take time out to breath. And do that sleeping thing once in a while too. 😉

    1. “There is a nervous energy that seems to linger in the air coating everything it touches and getting absorbed through the skin…. ” Yes. That’s it EXACTLY.
