ROW80 Round 3 Goals

So today marks the start of the latest round of A Round of Words in 80 Days.  I’m so tickled at the support my little writing challenge has received.  So, for another 80 days I’ll be plugging away at DOTH.  I have probably 50k to go, which works out to 625 words a day.  There will inevitably be days I won’t write, so in order to pad that a little, I am going to set a goal of 700 words a day for my minimum.  Probably some days I’ll get more than that, some days I’ll get less, but that is the average I’m shooting for.

As I move forward into this second half, I’ve got a lot more research and reading to do in order to thoroughly steep myself in the mythology this trilogy is based on.  Given my daily time constraints, I’m still sorting out how I’m going to get all of that read and my words in and such.  I’ll figure something out.

Also during this round, I aim to finish Couch 2 5k.  I started week 4 of that this morning, so in another month, I ought to theoretically be running 3 miles 3x a week.  Assuming I don’t die of heat stroke.  (It’s really not THAT bad at 6 AM, considering).

I had initially had notions of trying to split projects, doing a little work on a shorter project (novella) during lunches and then devoting my bigger writing block to DOTH, but I don’t think my brain is up to shifting POVs (DOTH is in first and my novella would be third) and worlds that much.  So we’ll stick to the slow and steady wins the race and I’ll probably pick up the novella for my project next round.  I’m getting myself to where I’m okay with that.

Must finish short story revisions this week.  That’s due in a little less than 2 weeks, and I am really looking forward to getting it off of my plate.

I’ve also got a few plotting projects I’d like to do some work on to get them out of my head, but I don’t actually have any specific goals related to that.  It’s just a series idea I’m kicking around.

Either way, we’re off and running!

  1. I had to post for a different blog hop this morning, but I’ll definitely be outlining ROW 80 goals this week! 🙂

  2. Nine miles a week? You’re a wonderful person for being able to do that during the summer! I know it isn’t too hot at 6 am… but it doesn’t make it much better.

Good luck to you this round Kait (and super thanks for running ROW80 again!)

  3. I’ve heard great things about the Couch 2 5k program. Best wishes with it! I’m looking forward to reading DOTH…someday, when you’re ready and it’s out. 🙂

  4. Great set of goals, Kait! Good luck with finishing DOTH, fitting in the research, and bumping up your running. (And everything else you have going on!) Thank you, as always, for running such a wonderful challenge 😀
