Lazy Morning Thoughts and a Truly Excellent Hat

I’m taking a lazy morning today, comp time since I didn’t get home from work until 10 last night.  It was a long day, but not a bad one, and between meetings my coworker and I did a little bit of shopping wherein I scored a truly excellent new hat and a few new tops for work.  One of them actually had a PATTERN ON IT and one was a color not red, black, brown, or purple (my mom is passing out with shock from this fact about now–I even TRIED ON a pink one–I’m living dangerously, Mom).  I love Ross.  The store, not Geller.

I’m feeling better finally, the gut rot (great term, Alberta!) having passed and my ear infection totally on the mend.  Knock on wood that I’m done with illness and funk.  I’d like to be on even keel for a while and get some energy back for assorted projects around the house, like painting and installing the new closet doors in the man cave and guest room, painting both those rooms, and painting the kitchen.  My goal is to have those all done before Christmas.  And then there’s weeding and mulching all the flower beds, reorganizing the attic and…yeah it becomes a long list.  There’s always something.  Currently I’m hoping to fund a new end of the season patio set with sales of hubby’s college textbooks and some of the stuff we don’t need anymore.

I’m still plowing my way through the Lucky Harbor series.  Halfway through the third book.  Then I’m going to take a side trip and visit with Shannon Stacey’s Kowalski family.  It’s all good, happy, low key reading that’s definitely helping me work out some of the details with my plot bunnies and entertaining me to boot.  Win win.

Wow, I’m totally boring this morning.  Off to clean up and get to work.

  1. LOL, Susan, I was thinking the same thing. I looked for a picture of the hat.

I’m glad you’re feeling better, Kait. There’s always so much to do, and feeling lousy sets you back.

  2. I’m glad you’re feeling better. I’ve been on a bout of illnesses, myself.

As I lamented to my mother: It’s midsummer. How on earth did I catch 3 bugs in a row?

A thought on ear infections: Ever try tea tree oil? (Putting some on a cotton swap to stick in your infected ear.) I used that, until I developed a sensitivity to the oil.

  3. I like your idea about selling your husband’s old college textbooks. My husband and I still have way too many of those that we are NEVER going to use. Where do you plan on selling them that will actually give you money? Thanks for the idea and assistance.

    1. I’m just listing them in the Amazon Marketplace. It’s really only functional in fields where they DON’T update editions every couple years. Which his doesn’t. 🙂

  4. Love the hat. My inner shrink wants to know if your inner shrink sees any correlation between your love of hats and the many hats you wear in your day to day life.
