Sunday Summary and #ROW80 Update

  1. It’s been a get stuff done kind of day.  I made a new coat rack (just a painted board and some hooks, but much longer than the premade ones) for my sort of mudroom in the laundry room entry way from the garage, conquered Mount Washmore, did my menu planning, roasted a chicken, made stock from the bones, tested a new chicken pot pie recipe for dinner, made the Thanksgiving dressing and froze it, walked the dogs, hung a few pictures and decorative things, and finished my read through of DOTH.
  2. I decided on Friday that it’s taken me so long to write that I needed to do a full read through so that I knew for sure what all threads I needed to carry through to the end.  It all hangs together pretty well until the current scene.  I have a bunch of small notes of things to fix and clarify, and I think I’ve sorted out what to do with a secondary character that I kept forgetting about.  I’m still not 100% certain how to fix the scene that prompted all this, but I’ll sleep on it.  It may get bracketed and I’ll move on with the story and let my crit partners make suggestions as to the best way to enhance it.  I should be able to implement all the small edits tomorrow and then bebop right on along.  I probably won’t make my Thanksgiving deadline but I should still be finished by the end of the month.  I logged 5278 words this week.
  3. I need to make some changes on the Operation GIT front.   I’ve put on 3 pounds of muscle in the last couple of months.  This is a good thing.  But I’ve only lost one pound of fat.  And yeah, that’s better than gaining, certainly, but I suspect that now that That Time of Year has arrived (aka The Holiday Creep), I need to make some other changes.  Most importantly, I need to amp up my workouts.   The running will stay, as that’s still a challenge and it’s easy to amp up merely by pushing myself to go faster.  Unfortunately, that leaves my recumbent bike.  I keep doing it because I can read while I’m on it (it has been my only reading time for a while).  I’ve got a HIIT timer to go with it and I’ve continued to push up the resistance but it’s just not doing it for me.  I’m USED to it.  I need to do something my body ISN’T used to.  Options would be going back to yoga (which I haven’t done consistently since last year), actually USING the Your Shape Fitness for the Kinect now that we have a living room big enough for it, or something that hasn’t occurred to me yet.  Honestly I’m not sure what to try.  I’m not enthused about yoga.  And the Kinect, while I like it, takes so damn LONG to boot up and be ready to go (as opposed to the Wii, which is ready to go in about a minute).  It’s supposed to be raining tomorrow morning, so I suppose it’ll be yoga first, and then we’ll see.  I also need to go back to my lunchtime workouts.
  4. I also need to go back to calorie counting.   The whole vegetarian until dinner thing is a nice easy way to maintain, but I think I’m overall still taking in more calories than I need to be to balance out the excesses this time of year.  I’ll probably continue to aim for mostly vegetarian before dinner, but I definitely need to focus on maintaining my calorie budget.

  1. I love t’ai chi, throwing firewood around, and short bursts of hometending and yard work throughout the day.

I love reading the stories of people who really cook (married me one too!), because i just like to play with food more than really cook.

I would definitely bracket that scene and go on, because the process usually resolves things for me further down the trail…but that’s what I would do, and that doesn’t mean that any of this would work for you.

Thank you for sharing this slice of your life!
