Merry Christmas Holidays To Me!

Well I’ve had a glorious first day of my holiday.  All I did was go for a nice 3 mile run (broke 12 minute mile even though I hadn’t run in 3 weeks, thank you very much), do some plotting on one of my projects, walk the dogs, have a nap, experiment with some gluten free cheese crackers (which hubby obviously thought were a success, because he totally wiped them out), and had a White Christmas wrapping party.  I couldn’t have many of those low key days in a row or I’d start going stir crazy, but as a kick off to my Christmas vacation, it was lovely.

Today’s project is to work on my last Super Seekrit Christmas present (it involves crafty things).  It’ll probably take a couple of days to knock out (I know! It’s coming down to the wire!).  Since hubby has to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we’re doing presents Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner Christmas Day.  We also have to do MONDO cleaning today.  The super duper, company’s coming, deep clean and polish.  Usually when we do this, we try to maintain, but our weekends the last month have been so darn full that it’s slid.  We got it pretty neat on Thursday, but still need to do the clean and polish part.  And, of course, there’s the permanent war we wage against dog hair.  Daisy could use another bath too.  Shhhh, you didn’t hear me say that  :eyes the dog:  :she eyes me back:  I know what you’re thinking, Mommy.  It’s not gonna happen.  Callie needs one too but at 100 pounds and fully able-bodied, she’s a lot harder to do in the tub.

And I do still need more words.  I’m about 7.5k from my goal for the year.

  1. Have you tried dry shampoo for the dogs? I have cats, and we all know how well cats and water get along, but we’ve used the dry shampoo and it works pretty well.

You will make your anual word goal. I have faith. Merry Christmas!

    1. It’s not a bad idea except for the fact that I have very large dogs and it would take a lot. We used the astronaut shampoo on Daisy after she had her stroke, and it helped, but nothing substitutes for a full on true bath 🙂

  2. I have a very tall golden retriever. Some of Mason’s fur is up to 10 inches long and he sheds everywhere particularly in the winter. We have one of these Dyson vacuums (http://www.english.dysoncanada.ca/store/product.asp?product=DC43-IRSPU) and it does a really great job picking up fur. It also has an attachment for vacuuming him directly which saves the intermediate step of shedding. They’re expensive but I know several pet owners who have these vacuums and they all love them. I’m sure they’re also available in he USA.

  3. I’m jealous of your running. I wish I enjoyed it because I need something to keep in shape. Good for you keeping it up and taking care of yourself. Enjoy your holidays, Kait! And best wishes making that writing goal for the year.

    Merry Christmas.

  4. I’ll be alone with our German Shepherd over Christmas as hubs away with work till 27th Dec. We had our ‘Christmas Day’ yesterday. Bobby was supposed to have been Shampooched for a well earned cut and polish earlier today but the damn van broke! Typical. I attacked him with several combs and brushes (he has several thick coat of hair which form ugly hairballs everywhere, moments after I’ve hoovered. Gotta love the beast though. We bath him in the garden usually, but it’s usually so hot here he’s grateful for it. Not this time of year though. He’d take forever to dry and might even be cold. (We live in Dubai now). The cleaners will have to come on our return to Dubai from hols around 15th Jan. No point till then though.

Have a brilliant time Kait. X
