Sunday Summary and #ROW80 Update

I’ve been working on first past revision on Be Careful this week.  There’s a stretch I didn’t do a great job on the first time, so I’ve been writing new scenes on it.  Definitely stronger, but I’m not quite done yet.

Yesterday was mostly a loss, as there were noisy people having a meeting at my coffee shop.  It’s an unspoken rule that the basement is for studying and quiet space.  It’s how EVERYBODY uses it.  And if anybody’s down there being social, they do it quietly out of respect for everyone else.  These people showed up after I’d barely been in place in my booth an hour and were talking so loud I could hear them over the thunderstorm in my headphones AND the music being piped in over speakers.  So I politely asked them if it was going to be a long meeting, and they said at least a couple of hours.  At which point, I packed up and left and got filthy looks.  Asking how long your meeting is going to be and making other arrangements because I can’t work over your noise isn’t being passive aggressive.  Stop glaring at me.  If I’d wanted to be passive aggressive, I’d have glared at THEM the whole time and then asked if they couldn’t move upstairs to the social space so that those of us who were there FIRST could get some work done.  Which I SO wanted to do, but didn’t.  The whole encounter left me grumpy the rest of the day because it ruined my Saturday ritual.

But I went back today and knocked out 2700 words, so that was nothing to sneeze at.  Of course the changes I’m making to this section are going to necessitate more changes to what comes after.  That is always how it works out.  I’m just plugging away.  Ready to dive into planning for my NaNo project.

  1. Ah, here we go with the entitlement/lack of consideration again. Sheesh.

But I’m willing to bet the words you knocked out later beat the words you would have written had you stayed, so the joke’s on them. 🙂
