Midweek #ROW80 Check-In

Just a quick check-in today.  Hit the ground running this Round already.  Been SUPER duper busy at work (we’re doing data collection for a new grant, so I’m working late all week), but so far I’ve still churned out a little over 2k this week on TGMTY, writing M and T.  I also did a fair chunk of initial plotting for another Wishful novel, and figured out some of the second half details that were missing for TGMTY.  Super happy with how that’s going.  I’ve been doing a little bit of jumping around with this book, scribbling down what’s in my head while it’s there, then going back to fill in the gaps.

I also finished Day 3, Week 7 of C25k this morning without a problem.  One of the things I really loved about running before that is still holding true, is that I am almost always struck by plot inspiration while I’m doing it.  I guess because the blood is pumping and I don’t have to really THINK about what I’m doing, so my brain is free to work on other stuff.  It’s fabulous.

I’ve been in a minor war with my internet company.  Our service went out Saturday before last, it took forever to get someone out in the first place, and then that didn’t actually fix the problem.  Kept getting a lot of runaround, so after 10 days and 6 phone calls, I emailed the CEO directly with a detailed description of my interaction with his company, including dates, times, and names (I admit, it was somewhat cathartic to be able to finally spew words like egregious and appalling).  Heard back from him in fifteen minutes.  It’s not fixed yet (and may NOT be fixable, in which case we’re just up Crap Creek without a paddle because there are simply NO OTHER OPTIONS where we live that don’t involve multi year contracts, data caps, and throttles), but stuff’s happening and I’m being kept informed.  So…we’ll see.

  1. I work for an internet company. I’ve heard of horror stories but I know we try our hardest to make sure they don’t happen and if they do, we work hard to resolve it. I’m sorry you’re going through that. Congrats on the progress right out of the gate. So how do you capture your ideas while you’re running?

  2. Wow, Kait. You’ll have to tell me your secret–you’re always super busy and super productive.

Good luck with your goals. I hope your Internet service is fixed soon. That can be a pain in the butt.

  3. For everything going on, it sounds like you’re balancing things extremely well. Color me envious! I hope the momentum keeps going for you all the way to the end of the round, Kait.

  4. Fabulous start on this round! Congrats on the 2k word count and feeling that writing progress. I need to dive into more regular exercise myself too. I also feel that blood flow and better creativity when I take care of myself.

    Have a wonderful round!
