Midweek #ROW80 Check-In

I have next to nothing to report.  Hubby and I have taken on a puppy to foster, so most of my spare time has been spent dealing with her and our dogs, making sure everybody has had enough attention and play.  We meet with the rescue organization to get her listed today.  She’s a sweet little thing–very well behaved and is taking to crate training like a champ.  No accidents.  :knocks on wood:  And she’s quiet at night, which is more than I can say for ANY of my dogs when they were puppies.

Beyond dealing with puppy, I’ve just been super mentally fatigued the last week and a half.  I’ve had way too much forced social interaction.  I want to turn off my phone, run away from email, and go hide somewhere.  Preferably my hammock.  Somewhere 20 degrees colder than here (because despite the relatively mild summer, it’s really, truly AUGUST now).  I’ve also been super busy getting my classes set up for fall semester and now started and fielding start of semester questions and issues.

I have done a wee bit of plotting, sketching out the basic form of another Mirus novella (I swear, if there is a form of compulsive plotting, I’ve got it).  This one follows one of the other escapees from Fort Hurley (from way back in Forsaken By Shadow) and Thane, the doctor in Clementine from Riven.  It’s only a step or two above a glimmer in my mind, though.  It’s fun to play with possibilities and sort out how these very disparate stories connect back up.

Back to work (aka Pretending not to be on the verge of passing out and drooling on my desk).

  1. Puppies are a nice distraction, but I hear you, Kait. When the Hubs and I got Bridget, there was more time focused on making sure both her and Lucy were going to be okay. Oh and the time we lost Bridget in the Loveseat, because there was a hole and she wanted a safe spot to hide, and hide her did.

Besides that, I understand the slow weeks. I have had those pop up periodically. I currently am fighting the Monday blahs. Two Mondays in a row where I hardly got anything done. Upside is that this week is turning into a more productive one.

Take a deep breath and remember that YOU GOT THIS!!

    ~hugs~

  2. If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, then go do exactly what you feel like doing. Turn off the phone and email for even half an hour (or more if you can). Give yourself some evenings to do absolutely nothing. Enjoy playing with the puppy. Enjoy doodling with the new plot. Anything that makes you smile and feel relaxed is a good thing to have right at the top of your to do list. 🙂 Take care.
