Late #ROW80 Check-In

I just realized I never got around to this yesterday.  It was a busy busy weekend!

  1. Hubby and I got our Christmas tree.  It is a truth universally acknowledged, that the trees always look smaller at the lot.   We have 12 foot ceilings.  And yes, that is a sock monkey on my head.  This is what we do when we don’t have to accommodate for a wheelchair (my mom had foot surgery this time last year, so we had a puny tree).  I’ll try to snap a pic later today of the thing actually DECORATED.  We were up until 12:30 Saturday night putting on lights and ribbons and half the ornaments.  Then I got up and finished the other half yesterday morning, along with putting out a bunch of other decorative stuff before cleaning up and heading out for a double feature of A Christmas Carol and Christmas in Connecticut on the big screen.
  2. This was the first time I’d ever seen Christmas in Connecticut and I LOVED IT.  Barbara Stanwyck was a real delight.  And I spent the whole ride home contemplating how I might do a modern retelling in Wishful, the same way I did for Be Careful, It’s My Heart (which is based on White Christmas, which I get to see on the big screen NEXT weekend.  SO EXCITED!  It’s my favorite!).
  3. I had a few days last week that I felt cruddy, so I didn’t get as much written last week as I wanted.  I did some solid plot work on the next Seekrit Project, and then Saturday finally got back to the novella.  I may not get finished by the time I go back to work in January after Christmas break, but it should be close.  We’ll see what happens when I actually get off from the day job for the break.

I’m sure there’s more news, but it’s Monday and there is much to do.  Have a good week, y’all!

  1. Barbara Stanwyck is one of my favorite actresses. I loved her THE LADY EVE (such a fun movie) and she impressed me in ALL I DESIRE. And CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT is awesome. I watch it whenever I catch Hallmark showing it. My favorite scene is when she uses the watch to explain why the babies look different.

  2. That’s an awesome tree. Hubby picked out a great one for us this year, but it’s not as tall as yours. It’s a price thing for us. The big ones are SO expensive. I think ours is six feet. We have lights, but no decorations yet.

Do you have a local theater that plays old Christmas movies? Which version of A Christmas Carol did you see?

    1. TCM apparently has a deal with Cinemark and is showing some old movies on the big screen. So we went up to my hometown to see it. It was the 1938 original movie (with sound). Not my favorite version, as it leaves out some important stuff, I thought. But still very cool to see on the big screen.
