I had to go radio silent for a while this morning in order to knock out some things at the Evil Day Job that didn’t get done yesterday because a) I kept being interrupted in real life by people coming by my office and b) my brain was flittering around like a hummingbird on speed thinking about plotty things. But the report is edited and just finalized. Yay.
There is not a tremendous amount to report, actually. I didn’t write on Monday owing to the whole painting of the guest room thing. And last night I knocked out 752 words, which I was quite pleased with, as I spent the first 45 minutes of my writing block working on said plotty things.
If y’all knew what I was having plotty thoughts about, you’d all be having kittens. KITTENS, I tell you!
I’m not telling. I’m not talking specifics at all outside the Inner Circle of CPs until a) I’m completely finished with DOTH because this SNB totally must wait its turn and b) I’m sure it’s going to TAKE. I wouldn’t want to talk about it, get people’s hopes up, and then not be in a position to follow through.
But the damn thing sprang, Athena-like, fully formed from my head. Well, okay, not fully formed. But with all relevant plot points in place in a span of 6 hours where not even a glimmer of a thought had occurred before. That’s magic enough for me. Nuff said.
I’m still reeling from the revelations imparted by this character yesterday. Because, yeah, I’ll unbend enough to admit that this is a story related to someone you’ve all seen before. They were totally holding out on me. Who knew?
So we’ll see how that goes. I’ll keep making my notes, fleshing out the details while I move steadily forward on finishing this draft of DOTH.
I ALSO had a serious epiphany about the heroine I need to write for the new version of Riven (which bares no resemblance to the old other than I’m stealing the title and cover for it because the old one ain’t gonna happen and I’d already bought pretty cover art). The story itself I plotted out months ago, another one of those springing mostly formed from my brain in terms of the technical details and the relevant sequence of events. But the heroine was one I couldn’t really connect with because she’s so…NOT like me on most fronts. The conversation that spawned said epiphany also spawned a blog post about types of heroines, so you can be looking for that tomorrow. It should make for a super interesting discussion.
In Operation GIT news, I shaved TWO WHOLE MINUTES off my running time this morning, which felt pretty epic and Rocky-like, even after collapsing into a chair and sucking down a 20 ounce bottle of water like it was air. I seem to be in a groove now where I’m dropping a pound every two weeks. Painfully slow and annoying but probably longer lasting. And not so restrictive that I get pissy and hungry all the time. So I’ll go with it.

You are ridiculously busy, but I’m glad you’re celebrating your success in all factors of life! Can’t wait to hear about the new WIP when you’re ready to DIVULGE! I’m just happy to be writing today; been way too long!
Ooh, a shiny new idea! I can’t WAIT to find out what that’s about. 🙂
A pound every two weeks is nothing to sneeze at. It may seem slow, but usually weight stays off better when it’s taken off slowly.
