RIP: Thesis (& Daily Progress Report)

Tonight was a momentous occasion.  My friend Lynne and I had a ritualistic burning of her dissertation (which she just turned in) and my master’s thesis (which has been finished since December, but I’ve been saving for this purpose).  The time of death was 9:05 PM, July 18, 2007.  This was an extremely cathartic procedure.  I’ve been saving the particular draft my fiercest member of committee bled all over with his red ink pen.  It was lovely to wash it go to ashes, the last remnants of the stress, pain, and tears turning to nothing.  I feel so much better!

In other news,  today’s progress report:

HOC: 531

Daily Goal: Met

So I didn’t get as much done as I wanted today, but I finished the entire interrogation scene and got it pasted into the full draft.  And I got my house cleaned from top to bottom.  Then we had company for 3 or 4 hours, so no more time to write.  But wow, isn’t it nice to have a clean house!  Tomorrow I’m out in the field for the new job, so not sure what kind of writing I’ll get in tomorrow.  Moving forward with the investigation post second trophy.  Off to bed.

  1. Congratulations on your thesis burning. Sounds like fun. Actually, as I am highly suggestible, it makes me want to burn something. [Looks around the room.] Dog looks worried. Don’t worry, girl. We’re cool.

So, not so much looking forward to the WHOLE DAY without you.

  2. Hah! I’m working on my thesis this summer and into next year – I’m supposed to be done by spring (eesh). I could definitely see how it could be a cathartic experience. Great job on getting through the investigation scene too, btw!
