Midweek #ROW80 Check-In

So we’re on Sick Day 2 here at Casa Nolan.  I spent all yesterday as a couch jockey and finally watched all of the first season of Downton Abbey.  It’s safe to say I am addicted.  I’m some better today but I blew all my energy running into town for what was SUPPOSED to be a quick errand (needed to swing by my office to get something to my coworker who’s covering for me while I’m out and then go by the post office), which turned into a massive ordeal because I had a flat.  Naturally.  Made it to the tire place where it took them TWO FRIGGIN HOURS to get to it.  So I’m finally home again and totally wiped out.

And I’ve been wrestling with a poor internet connection trying to watch Downton Abbey Season 2 on Amazon (I feel compelled to say I did NOT have this issue with Netflix yesterday…) and trying to calculate the likelihood that Mr. Bates’ hideous wife will get hit by a train post haste.

The writing has been going okay, considering.  I knocked out the big fight scene at the SPP, which I wound up having to do a bit of rewriting on when I realized I’d channeled a well known movie scene.  Plus it didn’t end like I thought it would, so that’s given me a bit of a loop to get around trying to sort out what happens next.  Which is fine.

My plot bunny turned into two books yesterday.  Which is fine.  Susan is encouraging me to tie up the first one solidly just in case I decide not to write the second one.  Which seems sensible advice.

I’ve been doing a bit of reading lately too.  I plowed through another chunk of Stuart Brown’s Play at the tire place this morning.  And I’m reading Sea Change Aimee Friedman, which is the first book I’ve picked up in several weeks that’s survived past the first few chapters.  I was thinking I would start keeping track of all the books I’m reading that are failing me and making note of WHY, of what’s MISSING for me as a reader.  I was thinking it might help me sort out what it is I really want out of some of these books that I’m not getting.  It might give me some more direction about what I can bring to some of these genres that doesn’t seem to be as plentiful as I would like.

I’m back to Season 2….

  1. Hope the delayed trip didn’t prolong your recovery. Hope you feel better soon.

Downton Abbey is the show I’m amazed my husband loves to watch with me. But it is freaking great! Oh and that Vera Bates… Ugh horrid creature!!!
