Sunday Summary and #ROW80 Check-In

  1. I’m sitting here having a lovely cup of tea after having slept in until 9.  Yesterday I woke up at 6:50, which was kind of insulting (my body is still on DST), but I went ahead and got on up and was at the coffee shop when they opened.  I really missed my Saturday ritual last weekend.  I missed even HAVING a weekend last weekend–hence the big yay on sleeping in today.
  2. It was a nice, productive writing session that netted me over 2k.  Since I changed my goals on Wednesday and have really been working on getting back into the groove on this revision, I’ve written just over 4800 words.  I haven’t written yet today.  I don’t anticipate getting a LOT done today as the name of the game is major house cleaning and laundry.  We’re leaving for an out of town family wedding on Friday and have a house/dog sitter staying with the pups.  And I really want to go see Thor this afternoon.
  3. I keep thinking about what I’m going to work on next, once Be Careful is out the door, and I keep changing my mind.  Some of that is because I have lots of things I’d LIKE to work on.  Some of it is because I know I will not be at my peak creatively due to some life stuff that will be distracting me during the month of December.  So I’m trying to be practical and sort out what makes the most sense and is most likely to be legitimately a productive use of my time.  One of those thing is finally writing the ebook formatting class I’ve been talking about teaching for WANA International since its inception.  It’s something I’ve wanted to do and been putting off, both because I was writing a new class for the EDJ (very labor intensive) and because I wanted to go through the process again putting out my own work, as it had been a while, and I wasn’t sure what had changed (answer: very little).
  4. I feel like there should be more news but I just can’t think of anything.  How was your week?

  1. Glad things are going well. l know the feeling about not knowing what to work on next…sometimes characters come out of nowhere and want their story told like Peter and Evelynn who want theirs written as soon as l finish Sy and Darlene’s.
l am almost finished with Love ln Disguise.

  2. Nice update! I hope you find that balance between being practical, pursuing the project that will be most productive, and those stories that clamor to be told. Congrats on your new book out. I especially like that link that invites reviewers to contact you (and would love to put this invite on my blog!). This week’s e-news from the Book Designer mentioned a new (currently free) blogsite called The Fussy Librarian who promotes books by specific category. http://www.thefussylibrarian.com Price, though, must be <$2.99 and you must have 10 reviews. So the quest goes on. Enjoy Thor, the wedding, and may the writing go well!

  3. I have found I can’t really sleep late anymore, even on weekends. Especially since hubby comes home from work about 7:30 AM and bangs around in the kitchen. LOL. And speaking of lovely cups of tea…I just ordered a tea called “Honeybush” which is supposed to be naturally sweet. Have you had that?

Way to go getting back in the writing groove. You’re being productive!

  4. Glad to hear things are moving well. I hope you were able to see Thor, btw. I have yet to see it. Maybe this Saturday. (I want to see it but life, you know?)

Also, thank you for the info on The Fussy Librarian last week. I can’t use it myself (for my books) but was able to pass the word along to several who could. 🙂

  5. I’m not sure what it is, but sleeping late seems impossible lately. Glad to hear the time was productive for you though, Kait. Maybe it’s the DST shift? At least you got a bit of a weekend this time.

It’s be cool to see if you run a WANA class on ebook formatting. It does seem to be one of the stickier parts.
