Daily Progress Report

HOC: 953 (in manuscript), 417 (on the profile of the first victim and what that says about the killer)
Daily Goal: Met

Okay, I admit it. I’ve got to sit down and plot. This first bit hasn’t sucked, but I’m stumbling a lot.  I need to sit down and think more about how everything is going to play out.  I know the overall timeline in terms of victims.  I know what’s in the killer’s head.  But I’ve got all this information about the cases and about the profile–and I don’t want to just do an infodump.  So I’ve got to figure out how to present this case so that this is not the Kensie show and the Hendrix County Sheriff’s Department doesn’t look incompetent (because they aren’t and because the Sheriff is our hero and he’s got to be all manly and capable and stuff).  I need–groan–an outline.  I’ve got some car time tomorrow while I go visit my parents, so hopefully I will have some brilliant ideas while I’m driving.  I did make the decision that I’m eliminating the playing card signature for the killer.  It fit with the original story but not with what I’m doing now–it’s superfluous.  And you know what that means?  I’m going to end up with ANOTHER new title.  Did I mention that I generally suck at titles?  I’ve had a few decent ones–but in those cases the title came before the story.  I’m not worried about it just now as I’m only on Chapter Two!  With luck something will present itself as the story goes.
