Bedazzled By Books

To give you a break from my incessant updates about the move (I know nobody really needs to know about all that but me), I thought I’d talk a little today about the books I’m currently excited about.  Some are already out and some are on the horizon.

I’m currently smack dab in the middle of Kiss of Snow, Hawke and Sienna’s story from Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changling series.  OMG.  How can I get anything DONE?  I NEED TO KNOW HOW THEY WORK THIS OUT.  I got a fair chunk of it read yesterday while at the doctor’s office and then at the pharmacy (I’ve got my first ear infection since I was about seventeen–joy), then came home and didn’t unpack a thing, just kept reading (In my defense, after the torture of having my ear washed out, I didn’t feel great.  Better now, thanks.).  SO SO GOOD.  And incidentally, can I say how awesome I think it is that her publisher is pricing the ebook at the same price as the mass market paperback?

Also on my currently reading (or was before the move and will get back to as soon as I’m done with Hawke and Sienna) is Timepiece by Myra McEntire.  I totally fell in love with Emerson in Hourglass and I was really excited to see that Timepiece starts off in Kaleb’s head.  I do adore Kaleb and wanted to hear more about him after I saw how things ended with Hourglass.  I’ve got a particular soft spot for the author Myra McEntire, as she’s adorable and one of my acquaintances on Twitter.  She taught me about Peep Jousting.  How awesome is that?  Timepiece comes out June 12th

I was also ecstatic to find out that Kelley Armstrong’s The Calling (second book in Darkness Rising Trilogy) is out.  I really really enjoyed The Gathering (even though I kind of felt like it cut off with no real resolution–really abrupt ending) and I can’t wait to see where this goes next.  Also, it has a really cool trailer. Doesn’t that make you wish it were a movie?  Hear that HarperTeen?  We want a movie!

My TBR pile is, of course, rivaling the Leaning Tower of Pisa these days, but these are a few I’m really excited about.  What books have you excited?

  1. ooo thanks for the list, I see a few I need to add to my own TBR pile. Right now I’m reading a thriller: Fatal Distraction by Diane Capri (a Twitter friend) and it’s awesome. After that is the book club pick of Kushiel’s Dart, by Jacqueline Carey (fantasy romance?). They tell me it’s awesome. Can’t wait to find out. We read the first in the psy-changeling series a couple of months ago and I really enjoyed it. I’ll be putting the rest on my list!

And congrats on getting the move done! Last time I moved I still had unpacked boxes a year later. Don’t be me!

    1. Oh yeah no. I should have EVERYTHING (including the storage unit and my in laws’ garage) dealt with by the end of June. I can’t tolerate it longer than that.

  2. Honestly, I’m having problems getting excited about any books since I listened to the audiobook, 11/22/63. Of course, I’m a huge Stephen King fan anyway, but this book blew me away. Nothing has come close to living up to it. That’s the problem with reading anything that good. It takes a while to bring your standards back down. LOL.

I’m sorry to hear about your ear infection. Those aren’t any fun. I hope you feel better soon!

  3. Books that have me excited are mostly on the self-help pile. Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself is what I’m most excited about. Need to get that from the library first. 🙂 Still, I need to crack my TBR pile which is pretty much taking up my to-do list. 🙂
