Last night I finished the last chapter of the LAST revision of Riven. It is DONE. Pretty sure in the end I wrote it twice. But whatever. DONE PEOPLE! Well, I still have to do one last proofing pass (I like to do at least 2, one in paper, one on my ereader, because I catch different stuff), write up the front and back matter, file for copyright, and do all the various and sundry things that go along with a new release, but I say BRING IT because, dear God, it’s been a long time since I had one .
I have a little contest planned–more on that another day, when I’ve pulled together the details and when the interwebz is not focused on more serious matters.
It will be interesting to see how this goes, as a lot has changed in the last 2 years in the world of self publishing. I guess this is the part where I find out how much of an actual fanbase I have for the Mirus series. :is nervous:
The hope is to get it formalized, formatted, and out the door by the weekend, after which I must work like a Trojan to finally catch up on EVERYTHING I blew off to finish it. Which is, for me, a lot. I kept saying “just one more week”. That was…um…six weeks ago I think?
Epic deep cleaning needs to happen. I’ve got a hamper of clean linens that has been sitting waiting to be put away for almost two weeks. There are boxes from orders that came in, I know not when, that still need to be chucked. Various and sundry things that have piled up and need to be put away or filed. I need to do some freezer meal prep. Catch up on reading (okay that’s never going to happen–I will be behind until the day I die). In general, time to clean and declutter and organize my home, office, and brain before diving back in to Be Careful, It’s My Heart. And then, THEN, dear readers, I dive head-first into a book that I have been waiting to write since 2007, one that has one of my all time FAVORITE heroes I’ve ever created. :rubs hands in glee:

Wow… I can almost feel your energy and giddiness right through the keyboard! Hooray for you, Kait.
Go for it while the glow is strong. It sounds like it’s time for that new story.
Yay, Kait! How exciting!
Congrats on finishing Riven!
