Help Me Build My Positivity Playlist

It’s Monday.  Mondays are, for me, associated with a whole lot of just BLEH.  They involve MORNINGS, getting UP, going back to WORK and a whole general slough of ick that leaves me grumpy.  So I’m feeling the need for a negativity purge.  I figure one of the best means of doing that is through MUSIC, so I’m making a POSITIVITY PLAYLIST!  And I need your help to build it.  Please  leave your favorite perk me up, positive, make you wanna dance tunes in comments, and if you’re so motivated, tell us why you love it!

I started the playlist off with the obvious Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” (because, duh) and Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister”, which came on my Pandora station on the drive to work.

  1. A for real suggestion – Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen. How can anyone feel negative with that song going on?

  2. Awesome idea! Okay, let’s see… A lot of songs by The Divine Comedy make me feel like skipping about (I don’t dance). Quite a few off the Casanova album.
    Also Going Downhill Fast:
    And Tonight We Fly:

Also, quite a few songs by the Whisky Trench Riders, including this one:

And a couple of Pink Martini songs, one about a cat:
And the other an Italian/Russian love affair thing:

  3. Accentuate the Positive by Doctor John, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper, When You Wish Upon A Star by Cliff Edwards, Don’t Stop by Fleetwood Mac, That’s Life by Frank Sinatra, I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, Flashdance by Irene Cara, Instant Karma by John Lennon, Why Walk When You Can Fly by Mary Chapin Carpenter and I Ain’t Got No – I Got Life by Nina Simone. This is my Feel Good Playlist.

  4. “Say, Hey I Love You”, Michael Franti. Also, perhaps embarrassingly, “Walk Like An Egyptian” by the Bangles.

Then there’s always–maybe TOO appropos–“Think” by Aretha Franklin.

  5. Bobby McFerrin’s — “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”
Blood, Sweat, and Tears — “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy”
Right Said Fred “I’m Too Sexy”
They Might Be Giants — “Istanbul (Not Constantinople)”
Bob Marley and the Wailers — “Three Little Birds”
    The Jackson Five — “ABC”
Whitney Houston — “I Want to Dance With Somebody”
James Brown — “I Got You (I Feel Good)”
Katrina and the Waves — “Walking on Sunshine”
Louis Armstrong — “What a Wonderful World”

    (I may be a little bit of a throwback…)

  6. “Who Wants to Live Forever” – Queen, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.- Johhny Mathis, ” {Sorry – snow dump here in Colorado}, Demons, by Imagine Dragsons (current fav song), Human – Christina Perry, “You’re the Voice” – John Fuhrnam [best with Merlin YouTube video), “Karunesh-“Morning Celebration” [Youtube], Skyfall – Adele
    ~Sorry for the long list – I’m a musician.

  7. Roar by Katy Perry – a current favorite of my niece that gets me smiling every time.
    Jump by Van Halen
Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears
    In Demand by Texas
River Deep Mountain High by Tina Turner (love her rendition)
Proud Merry also by Tina Turner

  8. Great suggestions here! I’d throw Pharrell’s “Happy” on the list a couple of times more – it’s such a great pick-me-up 🙂

I can’t help smile when I hear “What does the fox say” by Ylvis, simply because it’s so crazy!

  9. Ooo, also Shatter Me (my authoress anthem) and Moon Trance, both by Lindsey Stirling. How can you not dance to and feel awesome with Lindsey Stirling?
